Well, we did it. We spent two nights away from our dear child, who was well-cared for by her maternal grandparents, Nana Ann and Popsie. We called home about 15 times, and could always hear her giggling away in the background, happy to occasionally grasp the phone with two hands and screech, "Hi, mama!" and then drop the phone and run.
While Lila and her grandparents wiled away the hours in her favorite sandbox, Josh and I spent 2 days in a sandbox of our own - at the spa of all spas about an hour down the coast. We took walks along the jagged coastline, saw dolphins swimming and jumping, exercised, swam, ate delicious food and called home constantly. All was well, we were constantly assured.
We knew that.
We just missed her.
