We've always had flashes of Lila's personality. She is calm, cautious and intense when it comes to other people and new things; she likes to exercise power occasionally in small but deliberate ways, like tossing overboard every SINGLE thing she does not care to eat off the side of her high chair; she finds great comfort and amity in her battalion of stuffed animals and dolls, and gets more and more affectionate with us by the day.
Every day we spend with her she offers up something new and interesting about herself and as this happens she is becoming quite a complex and compelling little person. I wish I could capture it all here, but I lack both time and proficiency to accomplish the task, or even approach it in any truly sufficient way. But it is hands down the most endearing quality of parenthood - shepherding this completely open-hearted and trusting soul into a meaningful and happy life. She is such a treat to know and love!
Now if only she would stop waking up at 6:45 AM...7:30 was so much more civilized.
