Names and Things

IMG_2864

Words are just pouring out of Lila. Some are still hard to decipher, like this evening I finally figured out "cheche" was "leche", which is one of the few Spanish words I know: milk. She also says "mas" for more, but any other Spanish that she might be saying is lost on me.

I've been teaching Lila her cousins' names for when we see them this summer, and knows them all, sort of. It starts this way. I say, "Julia?" And she says, "Joo-la!" And I say, "Abby?" And she says, "Abby!" Then I say, "Lilly?" And she says, "Luh-lee!" And then I say, "Rachel?" And she says, "Yes!"

She really likes to go through picture albums, and we have a couple of sturdy ones that we let her read like books. She knows Nana and Pop Pop, Nana Ann and Poppy, and she's also singled out Uncle Jay. Aunt Catherine is a hard one. Lila knows who she is - but she won't try. Same with Aunt Stephanie. All those syllables are too daunting. We leave in just about a month...by then she'll be a pro!
