My good friend Cynthia has started a new blog, Culture Gulf, that highlights the rebuilding of the arts and culture community in New Orleans, where she has been a resident for the past six years. Having heard her first-hand harrowing accounts of Hurricane Katrina almost 18 months ago, it's amazing to hear how challenging, violent and unstable life still is in the city on a daily basis. Cynthia's skill at combining sharp analysis and bottomless compassion make her one of the most interesting writers I know.
